Patrizia's beloved calendar is back, and it’s better than ever. Each page features perforations at the top and bottom of the artwork, so that once a month is complete, you can easily remove and frame the 8”x10” print. Possibilities include rotating the prints in a single frame, building a gallery wall as pictured, or giving them away to friends. Whatever you choose, Patrizia hopes each month’s painting speaks life into your home or office the whole year through.
This year, there's something even more special about the calendar than ever before: 20% of all sales profits will be donated to WWF (World Wildlife Foundation) to help preserve and protect not just the environment, but also animals, especially the engendered ones.
WHY Animal Kingdom Theme ???
The first line of German poet’s Christian Morgenstern’s poem The Seagulls begins “seagulls look as though their name were Emma.” It makes out world sound so simple, everything in nature is as it is, in place and together. The artist however dissects her world, sees patterns, colors, sometime multiple colors in a single moss-covered rock in the forest. Which leads to the question, are all forests the same? And is nature really that simple?
At the beginning of COVID in Germany, in early March, we had few options other than to go for walks deep into the Bavarian forests. Dark. Quiet. Birds we hear but rarely see. Fortunately, in Germany, even private land has walking trails into the woods, beautiful, old, calm, dominating, quiet, impressive, simple and peaceful. All woods appear to be Emma. Are they anything more than trees and leaves and occasionally a mushroom? My husband’s family is full of biologists (I know, Thanksgiving is REALLY nerdy), and by accident his mother sent us several botany books for this part of the world. Exploring nature with my daughter, returned me to a love of basic science, naming, categorizes, understanding similarities and differences.
This is the inspiration for my 2021 calendar. Our world is so simple…birds are birds. Same is same. But the world isn’t that simple. Bird species live in preferential habitats, have food they like to eat, ways they make their nest and raise their young. The world can actually be dissected, categorized and understood.
